Tijuana sign, in Mexico. Only a 30-minute drive from downtown San Diego, Tijuana is a great place to consider when looking for a San Diego day trip idea.

Be prepared to “negotiate” for the best price and don’t be shocked when children and adults ask you for a dollar or two.
