This is race high on my list, I spent a week in Port Pollensa & Alcudia for a fitness bootcamp and immediately fell in love with the place.
People are friendly, the beaches are stunning, the weather is great, there are mountains, and delicious food… all in all, it’s a perfect destination for sports enthusiasts.
The city has a wonderful history, with famous sites such as the Roman remains of Pollentia which are ancient remains of walls that once encircled the ancient city.
There are also amazing beaches that tourists and locals flock to every summer such as the Platja de Muro and the Platja d’Alcúdia.
All this, coupled with scenic ocean views and beautiful old Spanish island villages make the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca one of the favorite stops on the calendar.
The Ironman Mallorca 2025 event follows its annual tradition, taking place on Saturday so athletes, their friends, and family can enjoy the downtime on Sunday to explore the island. This has been happening for the last decade and it’s easy to see why!
Mallorca has been considered the perfect location given its amazing weather and fast course in a picturesque environment. It’s a classic triathlon. The event follows the usual swim/cycle/run format as athletes transcend the Balearic Island hoping to complete the tough event.
Bear in mind there isn’t an Ironman Mallorca full distance, only the half Ironman. And the 70.3 Mallorca registration is already open, so hurry up.

Ironman Mallorca Swim Course
The swim takes place in the Bay of Alcudia and starts and ends at the Playa de Muro in Port d’Alcudia. The bay is beautifully protected from rough seas which is a welcomed relief for the athletes as they navigate the 1.9km/1.2-mile swim course.

Ironman Mallorca Bike Course
Next up is the 90km/56-mile bike ride that takes athletes from the Bay of Alcudia to the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and passes through the Coll de Femenia. The bike course has 800m of positive elevation gain so be prepared for some climbing as you reach the highest point at 576m at Coll de la Batalla.

Ironman Mallorca Run Course
Finally, the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca concludes with a 21.1km /13.1 mile run which is comprised of three loops of the run course adjacent to Alcudia Bay. The finish line is a mere stone’s throw from the sea and finishes almost next to the swim course start line.
Right, now that we’ve gotten some of the most important information about the event covered, we can look at some of the best hotels in Alcudia. But first, a few considerations before booking your accommodation.
Things to Consider When Choosing Your Hotel for an Ironman Competition
Now, it’s important to bear a few things in mind before booking and committing to your accommodation in Mallorca. The last thing you want is to get caught out with harsh cancellation policies or be kilometers away from the start and finish lines.
Let’s take a look at some of the most important considerations when it comes to hotels and the best area to stay in Alcudia.
- Location! First and foremost, location is crucial! You want to be conveniently located to ensure you can access the event start and finish lines effortlessly. No one wants to worry about long commutes when you have an Ironman event to conquer!
- Cancellation policies. Don’t get caught out with cancellation policies that come back to haunt you. Read the small print and familiarize yourself with the policies of the hotel – trust me.
- Budget. Now, this is probably one of the most important considerations for all athletes. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon and has an unlimited budget. You can effortlessly filter your search on booking sites like booking.com to fit your budget.
- Is it bike-friendly? Remember, you’ll be traveling with your carbon steed and will need to ensure that the hotel is happy for you to store your bike either in the room or in a parking garage.
- Reviews. Always read the reviews of guests who have stayed at the hotel before. This will give you a good idea of how good or bad the hotel is.
- What amenities are on offer? Is there a sauna/steam room, fitness center, or swimming pool? These are welcomed as an athlete before and after the event.
- Is there a restaurant at the hotel? Is breakfast included or extra?
- What sights and tourist attractions are close by for exploring on your off-days?
